Heart Check 1 2

We are commanded to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

We are also commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves.

We are told that these are the two greatest commandments that everything hangs on.

And we are told that if we don't love our neighbor, we for certain, don't love God.

After this, Jesus is presented with the question, "who is our neighbor?"

And so, Jesus gives us the well known parable of the good samaritan.

We are told that the church must not only simply love her neighbor, but that the members of the church should also have an extra love towards the rest of the members of the church.

Galatians 6:9-10 ESV — And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

So there is a special indictment when we, who claim to love Christ and claim to be filled with the Holy Spirit, fail to do this.

1 John 4:11-12 ESV — Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:20-21 ESV — If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

So Christians are called to love other Christians, and if we don't, then it shows that we don't really love God.

Do you love God? Then love your neighbor.

Do you love Christ? Then love the brethren.

Amen

Christianity does not teach one to respect all religions or ideologies. You will find the exact opposite in the bible. The open mockery of the religious beliefs and ideologies of others. However, it does teach that one is supposed to respect everybody. Loving everybody and treating others how we would want to treat ourselves. That everyone has equal value, because everyone is made in the image of God. In doing so, the christian becomes the modern example of what is called political incorrectness and hate speech in these times. The christian's stance is supposed to be, 'i love you, and will help you as much as i can, but your ideas and what you believe in is stupid'. But in today's culture... making a distinction between the person, and the ideas/beliefs they hold, seems to be an unforgivable sin.
